It is with great sadness and heaviness of our hearts that we
write this update on Silas. Due to
escalating aggression, we had to make the heartbreaking decision to humanely
let Silas cross the Rainbow Bridge . Silas was picked up on the side of the road
in early February by our Director, Kristen.
He was emaciated, anemic, had a broken leg, was full of scars and wounds,
and was suffering from severe heartworm disease. Kristen got him to Cypress
Lake where he began treatment and
got the TLC he so desperately needed. As
time progressed, and Silas began to gain strength, he began to show signs of
aggression. As the days went by, he
exhibited more and more unprovoked aggression towards the people that were
trying to care for him. We knew, given
the condition he was in, the only decision was to free him from the abuse and
cruelty he suffered in this world. Silas
was let down by humans in the worst way, and it was our responsibility as a
rescue to help him the absolute best we could.
Silas felt what it was like to
be held and loved, and he was treated with the care that he may have never
gotten his entire life. Silas is free
now; far away from the pain and suffering that he endured. To Silas, and the overwhelming number of pit
bulls that suffer from the worst kinds of neglect and abuse by the hand of a
human, we dedicate our endless fight for this breed. We would like to give a HUGE thank you to the
amazing staff at Cypress Lake Animal Hospital , America ’s
Dog Pit Bull Rescue, and all of you that donated to Silas’s care.
